Saving Meridian's stories,
one building at a time

Home: Welcome
Meridian Pics-13.JPG.jpg

From vernacular to modern, from residential to commercial, from governmental to industrial, we believe that the built environment is an intrinsic part of a community’s identity. Preserving the buildings of Meridian, Mississippi, by educating the public, rehabilitating the structures, and engaging the people will help create a sense of place, make people feel welcome, teach the community about our shared past, present, and future -- creating a community that is welcoming, enduring, and livable, now and in the future.

Meridian Architectural Trust has started an oral history initiative to save the stories of our community before they are lost forever. We are partnering with several institutions.

If you were unable to join us at our first training, "If These Bricks Could Talk" October 28, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, you may review the materials shared at this presentation. Please stay in touch as we learn how to do oral histories in order to preserve the stories of the wider community.
